    • How many times does it have to be said that the former owner (who gifted the machine) told Marty of its existence. There is nothing irregular at all here. Just be a bit pleased about about the feat being accomplished in the first place!

  • I enjoyed this video. I grew up on a farm. I used to ride on tractors all the time with my dad. I lost him awhile back. I miss him more than words can say. The sound of the tractor starting up was a welcome reminder of him. Thank very much.

  • One question I have to ask, is, what the heck were they doing with that tractor in that wild area to begin with ?

    eltsen nestleeltsen nestleGiorno fa
    • @eltsen nestle Marty commented in an early comment that the owner had become disenchanted with this tractor for it's breakdowns...had lost interest in it...as he had in the paddock...nature abhors a vacuum and unless you keep up the maintenance of a grass paddock...weeds/brambles/gorse take over....

      John SmithJohn SmithGiorno fa
    • @John Smith Odd, though, that he bought a new tractor, but never took his new tractor back to work the area the old tractor died in.

      eltsen nestleeltsen nestleGiorno fa
    • When the tractor broke down for the PO, the PO left it in what was then a grass paddock, put a tarp over it intending to recover it and restore it at some time in the future. The PO bought a new tractor and this one stayed...and the brambles and gorse grew as well...until the PO heard Marty recovered old tractors...and gave Marty the DB.

  • I’d say the small tank tank will be for petrol to start it and then you switch over to the main tank which would be power kero. Cheaper fuel back then.

    Nathan HansfordNathan Hansford5 giorni fa
    • The original (petrol only) tank had rusted out. The PO attached this lawn mower tank to the tractor to give him the ability to run around for short runs....

  • A number of those old tractors had two fuel tanks because they ran on Kerosene and they would put gasoline in the small tank to get them started easier and warm them up and then switch to the main tank to work !!!

    • The original (petrol only) tank had rusted out. The PO attached this lawn mower tank to the tractor to give him the ability to run around for short runs....the twin-fuel tractor had two fillers and caps leading to the two separate compartments of the tank....

  • Seems to be anywhere from a 1953-1958 model. Aside being a gas burner with a crank start, it is very similar to my dad's old 60's Fordson Dextra. Tactors back then were build like tanks, so even if it was at the bottom of a lake, it would have survived.

    Chucketbucket007Chucketbucket0077 giorni fa

  • Amazing. How in the world do these tyres still hold air?

    Klaus GGGKlaus GGG9 giorni fa
    • @Klaus GGG There is an attachment which allows you to fill the tyre through the tyre valve stem so that there basically is no air in the tyre....and any air that had been in there 20 years ago would have permeated through the rubber and gone, leaving only water....

      John SmithJohn Smith8 giorni fa
    • @John Smith Thank you, I've watched the next video right afterwards. But still, even that's astounding, water would only seep in to the waterline, so I guess there still would be an air pocket on the top half, and it obvioulsy kept the pressure, as he was driving around still on the same tyres. Anyway, very glad he could rescue the old girl!

I picked a stihl ts350 petrol disc cutter from a scrap bin last Friday, its now running lovely and in my shed awaiting future use. Nothing really wrong with it either except the clutch springs were a bit weak. Its amazing what people throw away.

    Paul HitchcockPaul Hitchcock14 giorni fa
  • Suspect the tractor was made to run on kerrosine. The small tank was for gas. You started the engine on gas then swapped it over to the other fuel

    Christina HuntnladyChristina Huntnlady15 giorni fa
    • The radiator cap did not have a seal on it...not pressurized, therefore subject to evaporation over time. The fuel tank had holes in it...which is why the small Briggs and Stratton lawnmower tank had been put on there by the PO; the PO had intended to recover and restore the tractor at some time in the future but had lost interest....
