How do you go about setting security profiles in an ERP solution project?

I'm involved in an ERP solutions project and I need to come up with a 'road-map' or process for defining security group profiles and a policy for ongoing maintenance. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

1. Really depends upon the system you have and what features and facilities are available. If you can create groups and allocate security and functions to this group then allocate individuals to that group you will reduce maintenance but limit flexibility as everyone in that group will have the same privileges. I would suggest speaking to the vendor they will have done this many times before and may well have something already documented.
